Current Panama License Plates from 2026 to 2030
In 2026, Panama introduces a new license plate design for the 2026–2030 period. The new Panama license plates retain their characteristic white background and display the word “PANAMA” in red and blue at the top, accompanied by two stars, while the license plate number appears in large black characters in the central area. The upper left corner features the emblem of the Autoridad del Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (ATTT), while the lower section displays the validity period “26-30” alongside the slogan “CON PASO FIRME”, also accompanied by stars in the national colors. This new model progressively replaces the plates from the previous period and forms part of the Panamanian vehicle registration plate system with five-year validity. The same format is retained in this new design, starting approximately with plate ET2900. The new Panama license plates for 2026 are expected to use this same design from their introduction in 2026 until approximately 2030.

Panama license plates issued from 2021 to 2025 use the standard American size of 300 × 150 mm with the German FE-Schrift typeface. A band at the top of the license plate changes color depending on the year. A small illustration in the lower left corner of the plate also varies. License plates are issued annually, with the year displayed at the bottom from 2010 to 2022. Since 2022, license plates have been replaced every four years, displaying the last two digits of the two years separated by a hyphen. For example, 25-29 represents the period from 2025 to 2029. The current Panama license plate format consists of six digits or two letters followed by four digits. On six-digit license plates, the first two digits identify the region. In 2021, the “Unidos lo logramos” logo was adopted in the lower left corner of Panamanian license plates. In addition, since 2021, Panama license plates have featured a green band along the top.
